Some Kind of Friend

(Hazen)

Well, I was talking to a girl who lives on the coast
And she has a little one that she loves the most
She told me she lived in Waldport in a pre-fab house
About half-way in the middle from the north and south

So I'll take the 1-2-6 to find her there
With mist in my eyes like waves to her hair
And I guess I'm kinda hopeful that she'll be liking me
Because some kind of friend is what I need

But all good things can't be expected
Too many good hearts lie unprotected
It's at Love's Peak where you get rejected
When some hearts just pretend

Some kind of friend - I can believe in
Some kind of friend - to be true
Some kind of friend - to make my world win
Some kind of friend - to share the blue

So where do you go when you want to find home
When it's a struggle, you know, not to be alone
All I can do is try to be my best
With my number two pencil for the written test

Well, like in an ocean again, I'm getting carried away
Into a distant calm where my thoughts can play
It's somewhere out there that I can feel so free
But some kind of friend is what I need

Some kind of friend - I can believe in
Some kind of friend - to be true
Some kind of friend - to make my world win
Some kind of friend - to share the blue

Some kind of friend
Some kind of friend
Some kind of friend
Some kind of friend
