Andy's been in prison now for 19 years. Through his own efforts and cunning, he has landed the position of being the crooked, murdering, overtly religious warden's sole accountant for the illegal and laundered monies which the warden has been collecting. Andy is in complete charge of the warden's money and its shuffling into the warden's secret accounts. Andy has just returned to this job after spending two months in solitary, the last month due to his refusal to carry on these tasks. The warden intimidated and threatened him to the point where Andy has, apparently, - at first, reluctantly returned to his job. Just prior to the clip you will see, there is a lengthy scene where Andy confides to his best friend RED, the narrator of most of the film, that he feels cheated and deserves payback for all that he has been through. He's very morose, down, and unlike his usual self and makes the statement "it really comes down to a choice: get busy livin' or get busy dyin." He asks Red, that if Red ever gets out of prison, Andy wants him to visit a special isolated spot in the country where something is buried. Andy wants Red to have to it - maybe because Andy knows he won't be around to give it to Red himself. Red is obviously worried for Andy and for what Andy may do to himself. The clip will start with Red and his buddies discussing Andy and his possible intentions to kill himself.
