Hi , I've been searching and searching and then confusing myself about how best to encode to .avi multiple segments that are on one disc at beginning. basically, dvd has two segments, each over an hour long. I have had success with this by selecting the .IFO file and then just letting AutoGK do the rest. I targeted each at 700mb, but since the programs each are not much over an hour, I wondered if I should target each at 350mb. MAYBE I'm off base, but my thinking is about the end result of someone assembling the two 700mb files to create ONE disc, or assembing the two 350mb files to create ONE disc. pros/cons/really no difference? next, .VOB files are confusing me. Currently, my problem is this: Have a dvd with one long program and short ending segment which really should be at the end of the long program on a final .avi. However, this short file is VTS_02_1.VOB. There is also an .IFO file, VTS_02_0.IFO. I don't seem to know exactly how to handle these sets of files beyond "01"/first set of files. I thought that all the info was in the first 01 file. and that all files , no matter if in 01 or 02 files would be found and put together as assumed/intended. I get all the files fine using DECRYPTER, and then I go to AutoGK. No matter what I try or attempt, it seems that I can't get the O2 file to be a part of the .avi project. I select the .vob file for input, I select the .ifo for input. Neither one allows me to add this file, and I guess it's because it's an 02 it's not picked up by the IFO/VOB files from set 01. so far, i've ended up with one .avi containing 80 mins of video. and the second .avi with the last 4mins made from the 02 file as above. why aren't they together, why can't I get them together to code on full .avi video of the 84 mins of show? one fix i'm trying, if it's really that, is to do this. I RENAMED THE .vob 02 file with the short video to "vts_01_05.vob" thus giving it 01 status and _05 to follow the last file that already exists in the 01 set (_04). IN AutoGK, I selected the VTS_01_0.VOB file for input, my target at 700mb, and apparently it has picked up all five (original four+1rename added) and is doing its job right now. Is this a way, a wrong way, or the only way to get subsets (or whatever the term should be) files in ifo and vob groups with 02, 03, etc... to be added/put into or included into a single .avi (consisting of 01 files content + 02)? Also, what is the best to do in AutoGK for input file: .IFO OR .VOB files? again, neither one seemed to pick up on the 02 ifo or vob files being there with content. On IFO selection, you get the subtitle track choices on the right, on VOB selection you just get the one audio track and no subtitle choices on the right. is there just one way to go, or can the making .avi process involve using both ifo and vob from time to time? What is gained or lost by inputing each type of file into AutoGK? i'm so confused........(but learning). maybe i should just ask someone that knows what to do and is using DECRYPTER AND AUTOGK/VIRTUAL DUB what step by step, through the input process at least, procedure should be followed for each case: two programs01 & 02, each over an hour long and on one dvd? One long program 01and one only 4 minute program 02 on one dvd? multiple programs each with it's own 02,03,04,05 file designation for ifo/vob on one dvd? do you just have to take them they way they are sometimes : separated? I know you can drop multiple files together for the burn process like in ConvertX or NERO, etc, and create one file, but I still think i'm just missing something about making ONE .avi file from files that first come out as 01 and 02 files, with 01 containing the bulk, and 02 a bit more that really is part of the 01 stuff (?)
